UTCC Confirmed: Chevy S-10 packing 408 cubic inches of LS V8 power

If we had a nickel for every LS-powered Chevy truck that entered into our Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge, our annual search for the fastest track machine on four wheels, we’d have two nickels–which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

As for this Chevy truck, it’s a ’94 S-10 fitted with a custom-built, 408 cubic-inch LS good for some 600 horsepower.

“I drive this truck all the time on the street as it is fully street legal,” says Kenneth Neubauer, who also explains that the front suspension is comprised of Ridetech control arms, triple-adjustable shocks and a custom sway bar with an independent setup based on a Heidts 9-inch rear end out back. Likewise, a Tremec TKX 5-speed transmission handles the gear changes, while you’ll find 18x11-inch Forgestar wheels wrapped in RT660 tires on all four corners.

On October 22, at Eagles Canyon Raceway, this S-10–with Kenneth at the helm–joins the fray of lightning-fast track machines vying for the title of Ultimate Track Car. Think you have something fast enough to secure the top spot on the podium? As long as both car and driver can pass a safety inspection, you’re eligible to compete, so enter today.

The Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge, home of even more ultra-quick race cars, will also be joining us. (The more the merrier, right?)

The Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge is presented by Grassroots Motorsports in association with Wilwood, Vitour Tire, CRC Industries, Red Line Oil and Racetech, with trophies from BimmerWorld, American Muscle, Falken Tire, Vbox Motorsport, Vorshag Motorsports, Nine Lives Racing, Cobalt Racing Brakes and Deatschwerks.
